Chesa Salis is a 16th-century former farmhouse in a pastoral hamlet close to St. Moritz in the Upper Engadine. This lovely hotel is rather out-of-the-beaten-track. An insider tip located in the center of the village. It has a garden with sun loungers, a restaurant with 14 Gault-Millau points and offers horseback riding and yoga retreats. The Engadine region offers some of the most beautiful sceneries in Switzerland with panoramic cross-country ski, alpine ski and beautiful walks nearby.
The 16 low-ceilinged rooms are warm and cozy. They have historic detailing like wag-on-the-wall clocks and antique chests; and feature snug beds with pine chip pillows which reputedly improve sleep. Also, every room is decorated with historic furniture and used traditional design from Engadine.
As to the restaurant, it’s one of the region’s most popular. Its creative cuisine has 14 Gault-Millau points. Starters range from crispy leaf salads to creamy chestnut soup, while one of the best mains to go for is the buttery corn-fed chicken breast with sides including spinach and glazed parsnips.
