The Newt is one of the most exceptional country houses in Britain. The hotel was created in a former historic villa from the 17th century. Former editor of the Elle Decoration South Africa Karen Roos has designed the hotel interiors. It has 23 bedrooms featuring a mix of British and Scandinavian styles including freestanding bathtubs and four-poster beds.
The rooms are divided between the main house, the Clock House and the Stable Yard. They are all individually carefully decorated by Karen Roos. The hotel features a spa with sauna, salt steam room and beautiful pool leading to a heated outdoor hydrotherapy pool, as well as a gym in the garden.
There are two restaurants at the Newt, the Garden Café and the Botanical Rooms with an open kitchen. Both have splendid design and feature local products from the Newt’s gardens and greenhouses.
From £255 per night for 2 people, including breakfast, complimentary mini larder, garden tour, cyder tour and use of the spa.
