The chefs Elif Oskan and Markus Stöckle with the help of Valentin Diem have opened the restaurant Gül in Kreis 4 which has been a hit since its opening. A 90-seat spot hidden in an inner courtyard between Langstrasse and Kanonengasse. Aficionados of the Zürich gastronomic scene already know that a visit is a must.
They use traditional Turkish recipes and twist them with a modern touch applying their own philosophy to bring a new sophistication and refreshing perspestive to all these delicious dishes. At the heart of the kitchen is a charcoal grill and a wood-fired oven. Home-made breads, pide, lahmacun, as well as grilled lamb and chicken meat. Forget about the kebabs… And taste the delicious Çiğ köfte, Ahtapot Külbasti (grilled octopus), Lahmacun (sort of pizza with lamb and peppers) and the Ali Nazik (a real lamb kebab on eggplant purée, yoghurt and brown butter). The food is absolutely delicious, full of flavours.
Gül is a great pick for larger groups. It has a festive and cool atmosphere and a lovely courtyard with trees and tables to enjoy the summer nights. The design is modern, Scandinavian with Turkish tiles, copper and light colours.
