You’re looking for a nice location for a great retreat in the British countryside? I have found it for you…
When in London for the weekend, we spent one night and a full day in Lenham, Kent just 1h outside of London. A charming little village accessible with the train from Victoria Station in the middle of the green and yellow hilly countryside.
Bed & Breakfast
We have spent the night at Dog & Bear Hotel, a traditional, friendly and comfortable bed & breakfast. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. They are welcome to give you advice on the region. The Superior Double Room is spacious, with a canopy bed and a chimney. The hotel also is a pub and restaurant for non-guests.
Kent is a historical region with lots of castles and villages to visit. In order to see the most of the surroundings, we have rented some electric bikes at UK Electric Bike Tours. The owner, Marcus (email@example.com), came to deliver the bikes himself at our hotel and showed us how to use them. The next day in the morning we started a long biking tour on the tiny Kent roads and through the Pilgrim’s Way with a warm and sunny weather.
The gastro pub at Dog & Bear is great. The menu is typical of the region with tasty meat dishes in a pub setting.
The Checkers Fish Bar, across the street, is a typical family owned Fish & Chip shop.
The Dirty Habbit in Hollingbourne is one of the most famous pubs in the area. Dating from the 11th century, this pub and bed & brekfast offers wonderful british dishes in a traditional wooden setting and decor. A must see if you are in the surroundings.
