The Chiltern Firehouse is an institution of Marylebone. It was built in 1890 to store fire engines. The firehouse was decommissioned in 2005 and bought by André Balazs – the famous owner of Chateau Marmont and Mercer hotels.
The Chiltern Firehouse has actually become one of the most trendy hotel & restaurant in London. The cuisine is managed by famous Nuno Mendes who has created an American-inspired menu.
Having lunch at the Chiltern Firehouse is like having lunch in a big living room. You will feel comfortable. All the tables are a little different in size, in look, in purpose. There are tables to be seen at, there are chef’s tables to really eat at and there is even a “love snug”, a compact and kitsch cream-washed private cupboard for two, next to the bar, with its own fireplace, banquette and curtained cubby hole for stealthy drinks orders. You just need to pick!
The menu is inspired by American cuisine. Nuno Mendes gives it its special touch by reimagining classics and celebrating ingredients. The eggs benedict were delicious. We paid 25£ per person but only had one dish.
